Hello Blogger Events Workshop...

On Sunday I not only attended the Hello Blogger events Workshop at the swish London club in Teneriffe, but also put all fears of public speaking behind me and said yes to being a guest speaker. To be honest I actually didn't even think twice when I was asked. Of course I want to talk about what I love.

I am so glad I said yes. It was such a great day and was a great way to refresh what I know about photography. Although teaching people who know very little about photography when you know a lot is pretty hard. It's really hard to go back to the beginning of your own journey.

But I did and the feed back was really good and I had a lot of people come up to me afterwards for advice on things I had spoken about.

Other than coming away on a high from being a guest speaker I was so happy to have learnt SO much more about blogging, so much that my head hurt afterwards.

I got to meet more new people that 'get' what blogging is all about and finally got to meet Sass, whom I've been trying to catch up with for ages.. Her posts have me in tears and virtual hugs just arn't enough sometimes.

A big thank you to Melissa and Dani for organising another great event.. I'm sure i'm not alone when I say it was very informative and an awesome day out!

Photography on the day was by Oana from TRX Photography.

Camera strap Covers + I'm giving one away!

A while ago my sister bought me a funky camera strap complete with sewn in strap that attaches it to my camera, and since that that I have been worried my camera was going to come un attached and fall to the ground. It just wasn't as secure as I would have liked.

On a few occasions it did un do itself, and thankfully my quick reflexes meant it didn't hit the ground.

The strap that threaded through my camera wasn't as thick and sturdy as the original nikon strap, so I put that back on for piece of mind.

I was happy that my camera was safe, but sad that it wasn't personalised with a little bit of me anymore. So that same day I got the sewing machine out and made myself a strap cover that easily slips over it, instantly brightening it up..

And as per the norm, I didn't stop there. I kept sewing more and more to add to my collection (I have a thing with seeing more than one funky creation sitting side by side)..

They are made from high quality quilting fabrics, with a layer of fleece sewn in for extra padding and are approx 50cm in length.

And now I want to share them with you.

I will be making and selling them for you, all you have to do is send me an email and we can customise one that is perfect for you for only $15 plus postage.

And because I am super generous I am also giving one away at this weekends Hello Blogger Events Workshop and 1 here on the blog!.

All you have to do to be in the running is leave a comment below (making sure you leave a contact email address). You don't have to have a blog, but you must live within Australia. Easy.

The winner of the strap cover will be drawn next Friday the 16th of March at 5pm and chosen at random.

Now go on and spread the word.

Our first case of nits..

Early last week I found a little slip in Byron's pocket at school, kindly letting us know that a child in his class had nits. We had to check our kids hair and send it back saying if they had them and if they had been treated.

After a quick check over, and a big sigh of relief I ticked the 'no nits detected' box and sent it in the next day.

I have never had nits, nor have the boys. But by the sound of it, it's just one of those wonderful benefits of school.

A week passed, and they went off to their Dad's for the weekend. Only coming home Sunday with nit treatment in hand. Sure enough their step mum who obviously has more experience with spotting them had found some eggs in Harpers hair.

Egg's that to me looked like dirt. Apparently the first stage.

No wonder I didn't find any. I was looking for white eggs and some sort of insect.

I put the treatment in their hair, dealt with the screaming for as long as I could and washed it out. It was a bit of a fail, but I had googled nits and was sure I didn't want live one's in their hair, stage 1 eggs at least can't jump and spread to anything. The live ones look nasty.

Since then we have managed to follow the instructions on the packet and keep it in for the full 1/2 hour. Im praying they are dead.

Nit treatment is the pits.

Uni update..

Semester 1 started yesterday and after a few phone calls to the Uni my new subjects were finally uploaded for me to view and start chipping away at. A day late, but hey I wasn't to concerned. It did give me an excuse to get the sewing machine out.

I'm doing my first prac subject in April and I'm pretty excited about it. Being able to actually put what I've learnt into practice will be a good eye opener. Now I just have to find myself a School to take me on for the 10 days.

Sounds easy, but so far no such luck. One girl doing the same subject has been rejected by 20 Schools already.

Hopefully I have more luck. Fingers crossed..

Peek at our week..

....We celebrated no more day time nappies with slushees. Both kids love slushees and know they only get them when they have done something pretty special in my books. Being in undies all day with hardly any accidents definitely ticks this box.

....I spent a few hours editing photos from last weekends photoshoot and Harp played his favorite games on the iPad. It blows me away how quickly the kids pick up on how to play things.

....We've dealt with School sores, tonsillitis and nits. All in one week. It's been a little crazy. On that note have you ever tried to get a 2 year old to sit still for long enough for nit treatment? It's not an easy task. Thankfully both boys only had un hatched eggs. Fingers crossed they didn't survive. I've never seen a live nit and am pretty happy keeping it like that.

....It rained and it poured. For what felt like days. The kids went a little nuts, as did I.

....Between all the crazies I popped into the opp shop and found myself a pair of wranglers for next to nothing. Oh how I love Queensland opp shops..

What have you been up to over the past week?

Not so perfect photo shoot..

Last weekend I met a lovely family for a photoshoot. We had emailed back and forth organising details. They chose a location and I showed up with my bag of goodies..

It was stinking hot. The sun was higher and brighter in the sky than I would have liked, but we trooped on.

After walking into a private little beach I started taking photos only to notice the 4 year old wiggling alot. I joked that he was just like my son, unable to stand still.

Then we noticed the 100's of mozzies that had decided to join us.

It was crazy.

Those mozzies were on steroids.

The kids had been eaten alive and were not so happy anymore.

Luckily everyone saw the funny side of it..

Note to self: Never ever ever say yes to a photo shoot in wetlands EVER again..

It will not end well.

Weekend trip up the beach..

Over the weekend we took the big kids 4WDing.

It was beautiful.

Just what we needed.

The kid's ran around like they had never seen a beach before. Completely wore themselves out.

It was my first time 4WDing and now i'm hooked.

I want to go back and sit and watch the world go by..

Only problem is that the 4WD is off to get painted now after spending months getting re-wired..

Just my luck..
